Chiswick Fitness StudioThe reasons for working out vary from person to person, yet whatever your personal goals the reason to work with a personal trainer are twofold. First, you increase the likelihood of achieving your goals. Substantially! Second, you’ll get there faster too.

What are your goals?

Usually, your goals will be described in terms of one or more of the following:

Fit for life

Whilst there is considerable variation in personal goals, it might just be that being “fit for life” ranks the most popular. This goal simply means you want to be able to do all the things in life that you want to do. Or you might think of it as doing again all the things you once did.

Being able to “run for a bus” is a throw-away phrase, but it actually underlines the often mundane nature of the things from which we derive the most satisfaction and happiness: kicking a football round with the kids; keeping up with the grandchildren; dancing for more than one song in a row at your daughter’s wedding!

And for the career-minded, the maxim “healthy body, healthy mind” isn’t a maxim for nothing. Sometimes, getting to the top demands physical fitness.

Aerobic

Are your weekends dedicated to watching and playing “the beautiful game”? Perhaps you love rambling and climbing. Perhaps you’re a budding triathlete. And perhaps you simply don’t like being out of breath. You want excellent aerobic fitness.

Strength

Your strength and endurance capabilities are important to you. Your work or sport may demand it, and maybe you wouldn’t mind looking a little more muscly for those too few days spent on vacation wearing next to nothing. And why not?!

Flexibility

You may never have lost your childhood flexibility and cherish keeping it. Or perhaps you’re fed up feeling as “stiff as a board” and would like to regain a little flexibility.

Weight loss

Those thirty-something and forty-something years can manifest themselves with stealth. Before you know it, you’re carrying “a few extra pounds” and it’s showing. Your GP may have had a word in your shell like about your body mass index being higher than it should be, and recommended shedding some weight.

Whilst a healthy, balanced diet is integral to weight loss, getting back into the routine of regular exercise pays dividends.

And it’s doubleplusgood… the more energy you put into exercising, the more energy you’ll have. If only everything in life worked out like that!

Recovery

Personal training can be a vital part of recuperation from an illness, accident or operation.
